Our Philosophy

At Apex Performance Training, we believe fitness should fit your life — not the other way around. My philosophy is built on an unorthodox and versatile approach that delivers maximum results by meeting you where you are. Whether it’s in your home, your gym, or out in the Florida sun, every session is designed to push you toward your peak.

We use the outdoors as our training ground — from the soft sand of Siesta Key, to the incline challenge of the Ringling Bridge, to the rolling hills of the Celery Fields. No two sessions are ever the same, because your body and mind thrive on variety, challenge, and creativity.

This isn’t just about lifting weights or running drills. It’s about building strength, mobility, and confidence in real-world environments, so you can live fully and feel unstoppable every single day. From ages 5 to 85, I adapt my methods to each client — kids building speed and agility, adults improving mobility and strength, and seniors maintaining independence and vitality.

My philosophy is simple: train anywhere, anytime, with purpose. By embracing versatility and pushing limits, we unlock results that last far beyond the workout.

Differentiate Yourself

Not your average trainer. We don’t just train muscles — we train bodies, minds, and lifestyles.

Sunrise Training in Paradise 🌅

We don’t just beat the heat — we embrace the sunrise. Training in the early morning gives you energy for the whole day, builds consistency, and connects you with the beauty of Sarasota. At Apex, every sunrise is a chance to rise stronger

Personalized Full Meal Plans – Beyond the Standard

I don’t just give you a meal plan—I create a fully tailored nutrition roadmap designed specifically for you and your goals. Every plan accounts for your body type, metabolism, training regimen, lifestyle, and taste preferences. Whether your focus is fat loss, muscle gain, athletic performance, or just feeling your absolute best, every detail is customized to maximize results.

But I go far beyond what most nutrition programs offer:

  • Complete Macros & Calories: Every meal, snack, and treat is calculated to support your goals.
  • Grocery Lists & Prep Guides: I make shopping and meal prep simple, practical, and stress-free.
  • Meal Timing & Performance Strategies: Optimize energy for workouts and recovery.
  • Flexible Options: Adaptations for dining out, travel, or special occasions—without derailing progress.
  • Lifestyle Integration: Nutrition advice that fits your daily life, so healthy habits stick long-term.
  • Extra Guidance & Support: I provide insights most meal plans skip, including supplements, hydration strategies, and nutrient timing for maximum results.

This isn’t a cookie-cutter plan. It’s an all-in-one, above-and-beyond approach designed to help you achieve your goals faster, smarter, and sustainably

Break out Athlete

Layla Obaseki: Sarasota Riverview Freshman Emerges as a Track & Field Phenom in Breakout 2026 Season

Sarasota, FL — Layla Obaseki began her high school athletic journey as a cheerleader at Sarasota High School. When her family moved in November, she transferred to Sarasota Riverview High School and found her way onto the track team. What started as a new chapter quickly turned into an extraordinary breakout season.

In middle school at Booker Middle School, Layla was a pure sprinter, focusing exclusively on the 100m and 200m.Upon joining the Riverview track program, everything changed — she had never competed in the 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, or the open 400m before this outdoor season. Stepping boldly into these entirely new events, the Class of 2029 freshman has delivered one of the most impressive debut campaigns in recent memory.

Rapid Rise from Newcomer to District Champion

Obaseki adapted with remarkable speed and became a dominant force in the hurdles while contributing across multiple disciplines.

  • 100m Hurdles personal best: 16.43 seconds (+1.5 wind) — 5th place at the Guy Thomas Memorial Classic (March 21, 2026). She also won at the Sarasota County Championships in 16.60 and claimed the FHSAA 4A District 12 title with 16.77 (-0.6 wind).
  • 400m Hurdles personal best: 1:09.66 — victory at the Sarasota County Championships (April 10, 2026). She followed with another district win in 1:10.51.

In the field events and sprints, she showed the same quick learning curve and versatility:

  • Long Jump personal best: 5.03m (16’6”) at the Lakewood Ranch JV Meet. Additional strong marks include 4.84m (15’10.5”) for 3rd at the RAM Invitational and 4.70m at the Wally Keller Invitational.
  • Triple Jump personal best: 10.2m (33’5.5”) at the Guy Thomas Memorial Classic (8th place). She took 2nd at the Sarasota County Championships with 9.97m (32’8.5”) and placed 4th at districts with 10.04m (32’11.25”).
  • High Jump personal best: 1.37m (4’6”) — achieved at both the Larry Richardson Memorial Invite and the Lakewood Ranch JV Meet (where she won the event in the JV division).

True Team Player with Big Relay Contributions

Layla’s “whatever the team needs” attitude shines brightest in her relay and multi-event work. At the Sarasota County Championships, she helped the Riverview 4x400m relay win first place with a time of 4:05.43 (running a leg alongside teammates Emma Morris, Ella Dabringhaus, and Noelle Tenaglia). She has also contributed to winning 4x400 efforts at other meets, including the RAM Invitational (4:09.27).

This team-first mindset — jumping into new events like high jump, long jump, and triple jump with no prior high school experience while scoring points in hurdles, sprints, and relays — has made her an invaluable contributor in dual meets, invitationals, and championship settings. Local coverage, including the Herald-Tribune, has highlighted how she “shined” by winning both hurdles at districts while helping the team across the board.

Heading to Regionals with Momentum

With her district success secured, Obaseki advances to the FHSAA 4A Region 3 meet, where she will compete in the 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, and the 4x400m relay. The Riverview 4x400 relay enters regionals seeded 3rd in the region with a strong 4:05 time, giving the team a legitimate shot at a high finish and potential state qualification.

Hard Work Day In and Day Out — And a Family of Athletes

None of this has come by accident. Layla trains diligently with her father, owner of Apex Performance FL in the Sarasota area. Their focused sessions emphasize technique, speed, strength, and overall athleticism — turning a complete newcomer to most of these events into a multi-event threat in just one season.

She comes from a strong athletic family. Her older brother, Noah Obaseki (Booker High School, Class of 2024), was a standout football player who helped lead the Tornadoes to a regional championship and a Final Four appearance during his career. Her brother (2029), CJ Obaseki, is already making an impact as a varsity running back for Riverview High School. Her younger sister, Delanie Obaseki (Class of 2030), is following in the family footsteps and running track for Brookside Middle School. That family athletic legacy, combined with Layla’s own relentless daily grind, fuels her rapid progress.

A Freshman Phenom with Huge Upside

In Florida’s deep talent pool, Layla Obaseki stands out as a true phenom. Starting as a middle school sprinter with zero background in hurdles, the 400m, or most jumps — and quickly becoming a county and district champion, reliable team scorer, and regionals qualifier — is exceptional for a Class of 2029 athlete. Her combination of raw talent, versatility, coachability, and daily commitment points to a very bright future.

With regionals on the horizon, the focus now turns to strong performances in the 100H, 400H, and that seeded 4x400 relay. No matter the next results, Layla has already made her mark as a hardworking, team-oriented freshman who elevates everyone around her.

The phenom from Sarasota Riverview proves that with dedication, family support through Apex Performance FL, and a team-player mentality, a breakout season can begin from scratch — even after switching schools mid-year and stepping into completely new events. Watch out — she’s just getting started.

Layla Obaseki’s 2026 Outdoor Personal Bests (as of mid-to-late April 2026):

  • 100m Hurdles: 16.43 (+1.5 wind)
  • 400m Hurdles: 1:09.66
  • High Jump: 1.37m (4’6”)
  • Long Jump: 5.03m (16’6”)
  • Triple Jump: 10.2m (33’5.5”)
  • 4x400m Relay: 4:05.43 (County Champions leg)

All marks compiled from MileSplit, TFRRS, and meet results. Times and distances can be affected by wind, weather, and competition level. Her full progression and latest updates are available on her MileSplit and TFRRS athlete profiles.
